In Dorsoduro, not far from Squero San Trovaso, there's a canal called the Rio delle Ermite. While walking along the fondamenta there, I found this set of green doors.
Really, I wasn't paying much attention to things on that side of the fondamenta - I was looking at the boats in the canal, but something caught my eye.
Upon further inspection, I noticed that the green doors had handles fashioned out of forcolas.
Here's a close-up of one of the "handles":
I don't know who the remer was,or how much the owner spent,
but whoever did this definitely gets props from me.
I've just returned from Venice and noted many examples of these door handles bith in wood and cast in metal, thanks for letting me know they're called Forcolas,
