This photo was taken in the shop of Saverio Pastor, but the forcola was carved by another remer: Giuseppe Carli.
Carli was once touted by some as the "last great remer", with hopes that some of his students would develop enough to fill his shoes. Fortunately, that's exactly what has occurred, and the art of forcola and remo making still thrives in a few proud workshops.
Today Carli's work is treated like that of a famous painter, with great values being associated with many of his pieces.
