Happy New Year!

As one of my favorite gondoliers, Joey Hamamoto said today:

"Hau'ole Makahiki hou!"

Joey is Hawaiian, but to date he is my longest employed gondolier,

and a great friend.

I love the sound of "Happy New Year",

I like it even more in Hawaiian.
