I performed a wedding in my gondola the other day, and then rowed the
rest of the cruise in my black suit, white shirt, and black tie.
It wasn't all that uncomfortable.
The temperature was nice so I wasn't overheating, and I managed to
get good enough shoulder mobility to row effectively.
The funny thing about it though, was the number of comments I got
from the people we passed by. All the locals who I greet on a daily basis
from the back of my boat, were quick to throw out comments like
"Oooh, you're looking spiffy this evening",
and "Hey, you look nice, what's the occasion?".
I, of course, made it my business to tell everyone that my couple had just gotten married, which resulted in lots of well-wishing and congratulations.
I know that a suit isn't the traditional dress for this job,
but for this occasion, I thought it was just the thing.
