Late last month, during my visit to Gondola Getaway, I watched a well-oiled machine at work. They had a large group, which they handled well,
using several of their boats.
But some boats are better suited to lots of traffic, and then there are the ones we don't want to have hundreds of people walking all over.
That day there was a group of four boats off to one side that were out of the rotation - these boats were all Venice-built. The Venetians.
Two sandoli, a pupparin and a gondola:
It's a nice cross-section of Venetian rowing craft.
I do wish they hadn't been covered, as it would have made for better photos,
But then I'd keep 'em covered too - they're worth it.
