When all the parade boats are dressed in their finery,
and the corteo glides down the Grand Canal with all those historic buildings in the background, it's easy to forget what year it is.
The idea is to recreate a Venezia of centuries past.
Ah, but there are a few modern touches along the canalazzo.
Vaporetto platforms are among the more obvious ones.
Here we see a shot of costumed rowers interacting with spectators and workers on the Ca' Rezzonica platform as they pass by.
The old Venice and the new Venice...just having a conversation.
